The way to make a program faster is to never let it get slower.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for performance regressions. If a patch lands that regresses performance according to our benchmarks, then the person responsible must either back the patch out of the tree or drop everything immediately and fix the regression.
Common excuses people give when they regress performance are, But the new way is cleaner! or The new way is more correct. We dont care. No performance regressions are allowed, regardless of the reason. There is no justification for regressing performance. None.
This may sound like common sense, but anyone whos ever worked on large software products will tell you that many teams, if not most, do not adhere to such a policy. The most common excuse is one that the WebKit policy doesnt list: Well fix the performance issues later. The truth is that sometimes, later never comes.
E.t.v. væri ekki svo vitlaust að taka upp einhvers konar samsvarandi fílósófíu í pólitík. Stjórnmálamenn ættu með öðrum orðum aldrei að leyfa lífskjörum/réttindum/þjónustu fólks að versna sökum framtíðarmarkmiðs. Mikið af hrottalegustu byltingum 20. aldar hafa einmitt verið réttlættar á þeim grundvelli að tímabundin þjáning og skerðing réttinda sé nauðsynleg til þess að öðlast útópiú og velgengni í framtíðinni. Mér verður þá helst hugsað til kommúnismans... eða jafnvel hörku einkavæðingarinnar í Rússlandi.

Thad er einfaldlega notad fyrir althjodalegan tilgang. Thar sem eg by nu i utlondum thar sem nafn mitt er hraedilega erfitt fyrir Thjodverjana. Allir sem eg hef kynnst herna maela med ad eg noti thetta nafn frekar en islenska... so there it is. Andersen er gamalt saenskt eftirnafn fra fodurhlidinni... S.G. Andersen seems reasonable.
Er eg ad svikja fjolskylduna kannski :p
